CHARACTERName: Meenah Peixes
Canon: Homestuck
Age: Appears 19 (9.5 sweeps) but she's been dead for years.
Timeline: Braiding Vriska's hair and talking about (f)eelings.
Personality: Meenah is the third and seemingly final fuchsia troll to make an appearance in Homestuck, she is the pre-scratch version of Her Imperious Condescension and dancestor to Feferi Peixes, which makes for a wonderfully interesting clash of personalities. Whilst living, she had been the Heiress of the Beforian throne. However, unlike Feferi and Her Imperiousness, Meenah had no interest in ascending to the throne of Beforus. In fact, she rejected it and rebelled against it, seeing it as a glorified form of slavery and an incredible drag of a destiny. Instead, she left Beforus and literally ollied off to the moon. A fate many of us dream of once the world becomes to difficult to deal with.
It's during her time on the jolly pink moon of solitude that she comes across that gosh darn game, Sgrub. You know? The one that really fucks shit up? Well, as it happens, Meenah
loves to fuck shit up. She's easily bored, particularly by the peaceful planet of Beforus, so the game hit practically all of her OMG WANT buttons. It's around this time she begins to show off her charming, manipulative habits. She pulls her friends into the life changing game with her eyes on the prize. The only problem? Her friends are pretty damn weak. But she can fix that, right? Meenah quickly makes herself the troublemaker of the group. In her mind, making her friends more aggressive (like her!) will increase their chances of winning. Of course, the best way to bring out the aggressive side of someone is to screw around with their lives and push all of their buttons until they snap. In this, we see that she is an incredibly selfish and entitled sort of person. She wants to win the game, therefore her friends must suffer to help her do so. However, her poking and meddling hadn't really worked out the way she intended it to. Her boundaries are perhaps a little too skewed, as she manages to push Damara Megido (Dancestor of Aradia) so far that she eventually kills her. She also seems to be incredibly lucky in some ways, because Aranea managed to scoot her off to her quest cocoon and help her ascend to god tier.
From her first appearance in the comic up until her most recent update, Meenah is shown to be an incredibly aggressive sort of troll. Within seconds of finding Roxy she seems incredibly eager to kill her and she's constantly picking fights with others. Such as Vriska, who had been forming plans that would clash with her own causing them to bicker until she got annoyed enough to toss her trident at John. For an Alternian, such behaviour would be entirely unsurprising! However, as a Beforian troll her aggressive and violent tendencies make her appear different from her companions. In fact, she would dearly like everyone to believe she's different from them. It's clear from her disdainful reactions and general avoidance of them that she finds them to be embarrassing and insufferable. She doesn't seem to think highly of them, despite the fact that they're her apparent friends, and rarely has anything nice to say about them. Given the chance, she's quite comfortable to discuss their weak nature compared to her fierce fighting spirit. That said, she has little faith in their abilities until it becomes important to her. Yet, by some miracle, she is still considered their friend. Of course, she is incredibly egotistical and arrogant, putting most of her faith in her own abilities and trusting her opinion above all others.
She has very little patience for bullshit and is quite quick to brush off anyone when she doesn't feel like listening to them or dealing with their crap. She does this on several occasions when Kankri begins to lay down the laws of social justice and when Cronus begins to skeeve her out. Can anyone really blame her, though? Despite being 'best fronds' with Aranea, she has almost no tolerance for her long winded story and cuts her off before she can go into as much detail as she would have liked. She is often scolded by Aranea for her brash nature and inability to be thorough with stories. She also seems to tolerate Porrim, Latula, Rufioh and even Mituna on occasion. She enjoys gossiping with a few of them, provided she's not preoccupied and actually interested in what they have to say. She can be pointedly blunt (see what I did there?) during conversations, urging people to get to the point or being honest when they're starting to piss her off. Meenah could be considered easily impressed when it comes to the Alternian trolls. Particularly when it comes to Karkat, who she seems to have a soft spot for. The two share the burden of rallying their friends (who they both pretend to think little of), a fiesty disposition and a mutual admiration for Her Imperious Condescension. On closer inspection, it would appear that Meenah has the beginnings of a flush crush for the mutant troll from an alternate universe. She does little to fight any accusations, though whether the feeling is mutual is unknown, it seems unlikely.
Not only is she manipulative and aggressive, but she's sneaky too. Meenah had discovered their session would be unwinnable and quickly sought assistance, scheming with Aranea in order to kill themselves and all of their friends before scratching their session so they could live on as ghosts. It had even been timed in a way that prevented god tiers from reviving, ensuring they would all die together. She continues to scheme in the afterlife, planning an attack against Lord English under her orders. Despite not enjoying their company, she desperately weaves her way around the group and attempts to recruit them into her ghost army in order to defeat Lord English. Her reactions range from unimpressed to incredibly fucking unimpressed when it seems like nobody is willing to take the bait. What's a girl gotta do to make a difference in the afterlife?
Its times like this she laments not wielding the same kind of influence her post-scratch self seems to. Unlike..basically everyone else she knows, Meenah harbours a deep respect and admiration for Her Imperiousness. Why wouldn't she? She's basically everything she wants to be. Powerful, rich, violent and pretty damn sexy. She's a pretty big dream to live up to and she seems to send Meenah into girlish fits of fantasy. The two obviously share quite a lot of similarities in personality, even their quirks match. Meenah also shares the skill and love of baking that the glorious ruler of Betty Crocker co. does. She mentions it briefly in conversation with John and also is said to have made a cake for her friends on their first sweep anniversary in the game.
It's traits and hobbies like those that make the punk fish princess sort of incredibly endearing. She's also what can only be described as the troll fish equivilant of a magpie. Her godtier is Thief of Life, so it shouldn't be too surprising that she is one. She pilfers anything that seems to be of value and seems to evaluate everything she comes across in the games in the hopes of selling it. Unless it is of particular interest, such as the throwing stars she finds. She even steals a ring off Cronus, selling it to Hussie in the game for the amount earned thanks to the big kickstarter for Homestuck The Game. She's also heavy on the fish puns, even more so than Feferi ever was. Even Meenah herself seems to admit that they can be lame at times, but she seems reluctant to give them up, even in serious conversation.
A few times throughout the game, it's mentioned that Meenah is not very good at social interaction. It's brought up very directly by Rose in the first game:
ROSE: You're not very good at this, are you?
MEENAH: wut
ROSE: Talking to people.
MEENAH: hey eff you She is of course, defensive about it, but it's true. She doesn't seem to understand the motivations of others very well, mostly because she's entitled and far too invested in her plan despite being told it will not end well. It could be a result of spending so much time alone on the moon that she isn't all that good at playing nice with others. Realistically, it's just a funny little personality quirk. Compared to the other trolls? She seems to be one of the saner ones. However, Kanaya herself seems to draw attention to the fact that Meenah is very much like Vriska. She seems reluctant to deal with her, informing Meenah that she has dealt with her type before. Both Meenah and Vriska's absolute ambition, manipulative nature and over confidence in their plans tend to lead them into trouble. Or, as we can see, it can make it difficult to make friends. A problem that Meenah comments on herself as she loses track of Karkat.
It could be considered a lack of trying, given that she brushes Rose off when she attempts to learn more about her. Probably because she's just a bit too much like Aranea, and you really only need one of her. She seems a little curious about Dave, probably a little annoying toward him too. He does seem to warm to her when she excitedly encourages his raps. Occasionally, she is able to drop the impatient aggression and blunt sarcasm in order to be friendly and affectionate with her favourite friends. When she's particular pleased she will emote like this 38D or 38) this and can go so far as to whip out one of these <3. She also offers hugs, fist bumps and high fives on occasion. She compliments Terezi without knowing her and can be somewhat patient with Mituna when he's having outbursts. Though her friendship can be difficult to win, once she likes a person she will think fairly highly of them and act a lot more enthusiastic and energetic. Something like her dancestor, in fact.
Despite her hesitation in expressing it, Meenah cares deeply about being liked. She wants desperately to be as ruthless as her ancestor, but she wants her friends to like her and she wants to MAKE friends. It overwhelms her to the point where she sobs on John, whom she had previously been trying to impale with her trident. She has her insecurities like any teen, but it seems she's working to overcome them. She has befriended Vriska while begrudgingly accepting to help her with her quest and gets along with her swimmingly. Surprisingly, she works as a voice of reason for the other girl and responds to her with a cool, level headedness that she wasn't particularly good at before. She's gotten better at making observations and giving out realistic, though not always morally sound advice. She's come so far that she handles Aranea's betrayal with a surprising amount of ease, she's obviously hurt by her actions but it seems she cannot stand in the way of badassery. She trusts Aranea, though she seems to question her choices and she's willing to roll with it somewhat despite its impacts on their friendship.
Overall, Meenah is the punk princess of Beforus with a biiiit of a superiority complex and a sneaky streak. She can be singleminded and headstrong when it comes to her goals and she has an intense desire for power and freedom. She's willing to compromise other people in order to get what she wants and she hasn't got a lot of time to waste on people who really do waste time with flirting and rambling. People she does waste time on get the best, most endearing sides of her and she tends to work with them the best instead of screwing them over. She's a little bit like Feferi and a lot like Her Imperious Condescension. She's a valuable ally when she feels like it but she works better when she's leading the way. She's aggressive, manipulative and brutally honest but shell if the fish puns and excitement don't get endearing after a while.
Background: MSPA wiki Abilities: STRENGTHS:Troll abilities:As a Troll, Meenah can take and deal a lot of damage. She's tough as hell, maybe even more so than a lot of her companions. She's also a seadweller, which means she can breathe underwater and swim well. Since she's at the top of the caste, she'd live a hell of a lot longer than all of them if she hadn't already died.
As a highblood she has immunity to mind control powers or voodoo powers, so indigos and ceruleans have no chance over overpowering her using those skills.
God Tier abilities: It's hinted that she can fly, thanks to her nifty wings, she can also only die a just or heroic death and her revival is sped up a considerable amount.
She's also quite talented at estimating the value of objects, riling people up, weilding her trident and changing her clothing at whim (god tier rags are fug yo). There's also something to be said about her incredible ambition. If she wants something, she's more than capable of making it happen through manipulation and persistence. She's very much the get up and keep trying type of gal, even if it means making others suffer for it.
WEAKNESSES:-Is over-confidence a weakness? Because in that case she has quite a few problems. Meenah is headstrong and doesn't take advice well, she rushes into shifty plans often at the risk of her life and the lives of her friends.
-As a Beforian troll she may also not be quite as battle hardened as many Alternian trolls.
-She's pretty crappy at social interaction and making friends, she has a hard time talking to people and not making them her enemies.
First Person: Network post in Vatheon. Third Person: It's almost astounding what kind of codependent habits tend to surface when you're around the same people for more years than you can begin to count. Meenah is spontaneous in many ways, but she is also a creature of habit. Her friends, annoying as they may be, are a staple in her incredibly important life. She's done the exile thing, the solitude thing, she jetted her pretty self off to the moon for god knows how long. Yet, she can't shake the weird ass feeling that she's a social piranha (also known as pariah) in this city.
She's well aware of her Ancestor's legacy, given that she'd once been determined to echo it in her own way, but she cannot shake the unease she feels from the venomous, judgmental stares. The bitch killed a lot of people, you don't just grow up to be the spitting image of a genocidal queen without getting a few looks. She'd been so certain about following her path, but she'd never properly considered the kind of out casting she'd expect from anyone who wasn't a dead friend. It's enough to make a gill reconsider some life goals.
A huff is exhaled from her lips as she trudges the streets, not particularly sure where she's headed or why, she's half walking to get away from her own thoughts. She hasn't given up, not yet. She's more fucking adaptable than any one of her friends. She'd always been the big fish in a little pond, but she isn't going to let being dumped in the motherfucking ocean harsh her swagger. It ain't gonna take much to run this joint, right? She's got her tricks, and fuck you if you think she ain't charming. It's only gonna take a bit of adaptability to make this situation a boon to her.
When she puts it like that? It's pretty fucking hard to deny herself the fun. She's grinning a sharp toothed grin now, shit is gonna be wrecked beyond compare when she's done.
